Our story · Designed in Oslo

Four students.One conviction.No compromises.

Luca & Luce was founded not by the fashion industry or a corporation, but by four optometry students.

Solli plass, August 2026.

Four optometry students founded Luca & Luce because we believed sunglasses should both look good and actually protect your eyes.

Customers should not have to choose between style and eye health. Polarization and UV400 are part of our product philosophy, not selling points added as an afterthought. This was the one thing we knew most about when we started, and it is still the standard against which we measure everything else.

Our design language is Scandinavian: timeless, light and confident. Made for everyday life and everything in between — from the mountains and après-ski to a late night in the city.

« A good product does not start with how it looks. It starts with how it feels to use. »

From the first samples
to Luca Costa.

The first samples arrived on May 10, 2025. The product met many of our expectations, but we continued refining it. This marked the beginning of Luca Costa.

The result is one frame in two expressions: Black for the city, Marrone for the light.

How it all began

2025 — 2026
March 26 2025 · The idea is born

Four optometry students were sharing a beer outside Kraft Pizzeria in Kongsberg. The conversation turned to the future, and the idea of a sunglasses brand combining style with real eye protection took shape.

April 15 2025 · The design process begins

We contacted a supplier and began developing our first model, focusing on aesthetics and features that support eye health.

The optician’s part of the job.

The lenses are polarized TAC lenses with UV400 and a scratch-resistant coating. They eliminate reflections from water, snow and asphalt, and block 100% of UVA and UVB rays. As optometry students, we never questioned whether this should come as standard.
