The sun sits lower

Campaign · 17 September 2026 · The Luca & Luce editorial team

Fall makes the light sharper, clothes heavier and colors calmer. Sunglasses do not need to be put away with summer.

Summer has a simple logic. Sunshine, bare skin, bright days — and sunglasses as a matter of course.

Fall is different.

The light sits lower. The asphalt grows darker and wetter. Wool, leather, denim and heavier jackets take over from linen and T-shirts. What worked in July takes on a different character in September and October.

The same goes for sunglasses.

When the light changes

In fall, the sun sits lower for much of the day. That does not necessarily mean stronger UV radiation than in summer, but it can put the light more directly in your field of vision — especially on your way to work, in the car or walking through the city in the late afternoon.

When light hits wet asphalt, car windows, water or other shiny surfaces, the reflections can be distracting. Polarized lenses are designed to reduce much of this reflected glare.

That is one reason Luca Costa has polarized TAC lenses with UV400.

Not to turn fall into summer. Just to work in the light that is actually there.

Marrone, as everything grows warmer

Fall has its own palette.

Brown leather. Dark denim. Gray wool. Olive. Rust. Cream. Black.

Luca Costa Marrone fits naturally into this landscape. The warm Havana frame and gradient brown lenses create less contrast with fall colors than an entirely black frame, giving a softer look alongside heavier materials.

Of the two versions, it is the one whose character changes most noticeably with the season.

Paired with an overcoat or wool jacket, Marrone feels less like a summer product — and more like part of the outfit.

Black keeps the lines clean

Black does something different.

Black acetate and deep gray lenses create a more defined frame around the face and work with a darker wardrobe without blending into brown, beige and olive tones.

Where Marrone moves with fall, Black cuts through it.

The same aviator-inspired shape. The same dimensions. The same weight. An entirely different expression.

Sunglasses are not a thermometer

It is easy to treat sunglasses as a seasonal product: out in May, away in September.

But the need for sun protection does not follow the temperature.

That is why the question of sunglasses in fall is not really about how warm it is.

« It is about light. »

Detail, Luca Costa.

One frame. Two expressions for fall.

Luca Costa is built around a single aviator-inspired acetate frame, measuring 55–16–145 and weighing around 26 grams.

Black is the cleaner, more graphic version.

Marrone is warmer, softer and more tonal.

Both have polarized TAC lenses with UV400. A case and cleaning cloth are included.

Summer made sunglasses an obvious choice.

Fall makes them more interesting.
